In the Beginning…

Sometimes just when you think you are at the end, it turns out you are only at the beginning.  Trista and I approached and passed the planned ground breaking event for the home we had spent so much time designing when we realized it wasn’t the home for us.  We loved the design, we loved the location, yet something simply did not feel right.  We have put the project up for sale and have decided to move forward in a new location.  As with anything that carries a vested interest and holds a special place in the heart, it was tough to move on from the Wildridge lot.  However, having made the decision there is no looking back.  We are now fully focussed and excited about the new project and intent on sharing the trials and tribulations as we move forward from design to completion.  So…

Step one.  Find a new lot.

We have gone under contract on a lot in Edwards, Colorado.  The lot is a 2.5 acre equestrian lot bordering open space and National Forest with an outstanding Sunset view and quick back country access.  At this point we have begun laying out schematic designs for a home and detached secondary barn structure that will fit the unique proportions of the steep site charecteristics.  As always, it is our intent to explore the design process in relation to the natural environment and to take advantage of both traditional and emerging building practices.  The sites every inch has been walked and explored for potential opportunities.  An informal project kick-off incuded a sunset toast mountain style.

wow. didn’t expect to hear that.. after all the planning etc. Are you designing an entirely new house? At least you’re both on the same page and knew the first one wasn’t for you. It’s good to go with your gut feeling if you thought it wasn’t right. Although i have to say, that view was incredible. can’t wait to see your new plans. thanks for sharing with all of us and best of luck.

2.5 acres would sell me too. With little ones, you will enjoy the open space. Good luck, I’ll check back on your progress.
